Zachary Hilliard, Sugarcreek Borough, Obituary Death: In Loving Memory, Of Zachary Hilliard, Who Sadly Passed Away In a Tragic Accident

With heavy hearts, the community of Sugarcreek Borough and the city of Oil City mourn the tragic loss of Zachary Hilliard, a 29-year-old man whose life was cut short in a devastating motor vehicle accident on the morning of February 25.

According to the Sugarcreek Borough Police Department, officers responded at approximately 7:53 a.m. to reports of a serious crash involving entrapment at the intersection of Two-Mile Run Road and Allegheny Boulevard. Upon arrival, authorities discovered two vehicles involved in the collision. Despite the swift response of first responders and every effort made to save him, Zachary tragically did not survive his injuries.

The suddenness of the accident has left family, friends, and neighbors in profound shock. A young life filled with promise and potential ended in a moment no one could have anticipated. For those who loved Zachary, the grief is immeasurable — a painful reminder of how fragile and unpredictable life can be.

Preliminary investigations indicated that slushy roadway conditions were present at the time of the crash. Officer Travis Corbett reported that both vehicles were traveling at speeds greater than reasonable and prudent for the conditions. Family members also shared that Zachary had previously experienced minor issues with his windshield wipers. Authorities continue to review this information as part of the ongoing investigation.

The other driver involved, Joshua Munoz, 38, of Oil City, sustained serious injuries and was transported to UPMC Northwest, where he is being treated for multiple back fractures, broken teeth, and various bruises and abrasions. The community continues to hope and pray for his complete recovery as he heals physically and emotionally from this traumatic event.

Allegheny Boulevard remained closed for approximately an hour and a half while emergency crews worked diligently to provide aid and investigate the scene, reopening around 9:24 a.m. Yet for many, the impact of that morning will linger far beyond the reopening of the road.

Beyond the details of the accident, Zachary Hilliard was far more than a name in a police report. He was a son, a friend, a neighbor, and someone deeply loved. At 29, he stood in the prime of life — a season often marked by ambition, dreams, and plans for the future. Those who knew him remember his spirit, his personality, and the ways he brought light into their lives.

To Zachary’s family, may you find comfort in the love that surrounds you and strength in the cherished memories you hold. Though his life ended far too soon, Zachary Hilliard will be remembered not for the tragedy that claimed him, but for the life he lived and the love he gave.

Rest in peace, Zachary. You will not be forgotten.
