Chris Lynch Danvers, MA Death, Obituary

The community of Danvers is mourning the profound loss of Mr. Chris Lynch, a beloved educator at St. John’s Preparatory School, who faithfully served the school for more than three decades.

Since beginning his tenure in 1994 as a German teacher in the High School’s World Languages Department, Mr. Lynch’s dedication to the Prep community was nothing short of extraordinary. His passion for German language and culture inspired generations of students, opening doors to global understanding and appreciation. Through immersive experiences, including service trips to Appalachia and his work with the Prep Leadership Institute, he helped shape not only students’ academic growth but their character and compassion as well.

Mr. Lynch’s influence extended far beyond the classroom. As yearbook moderator, he captured decades of Prep history, preserving the moments, milestones, and memories that define student life. His careful attention to detail ensured that each graduating class carried with them a tangible reminder of their time at St. John’s.

In addition to his academic and leadership contributions, Mr. Lynch generously shared his musical talents with the community as a member of SwingTown!, bringing joy and spirit to countless performances and school events. Whether teaching, mentoring, organizing, or performing, he gave of himself wholeheartedly.

Colleagues remember him as thoughtful, devoted, and deeply rooted in faith. Students recall his humor, encouragement, and the genuine interest he took in their lives. His presence became woven into the very fabric of St. John’s Prep — a steady and guiding light for more than 30 years.

Though he has gone home to God, his legacy lives on in every student he mentored, every program he strengthened, and every life he touched. The St. John’s community grieves together while holding fast to gratitude for the gift of his life.

“Grant eternal rest to Chris, O Lord, and let your perpetual light shine upon him.”
