MORRISVILLE, N.C. — A Monday night shooting at Park West Village has left one man dead and another facing a murder charge, according to authorities.
Police say officers responded around 9:30 p.m. to the 1105 block of Market Center Drive at Park West Village, located between Crumbl Cookie – Park West Village and Ruckus Pizza, Pasta & Spirits – Morrisville, after reports of gunfire.
When officers arrived, they found 45-year-old Zachary David Horn, of Morrisville, suffering from a gunshot wound. Horn was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries. He is survived by his three daughters.
Authorities have charged 55-year-old John Willis Fraizer III, also of Morrisville, with murder and discharging a firearm within city limits. According to court documents, an arrest warrant alleges that Fraizer discharged a .22 caliber revolver during the incident.
Zek Silva, general manager of Ruckus Pizza, said the suspect entered the restaurant immediately following the shooting. With the assistance of a bystander, Silva reportedly helped tackle and disarm the alleged gunman inside the establishment. Silva then attempted to render first aid to Horn until emergency responders arrived. Despite efforts to save him, Horn later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
Court records indicate that Fraizer previously pleaded guilty to carrying a concealed weapon in Charlotte in 1995.
The shooting unfolded less than a mile from the Camden Westwood Apartments, where firefighters were simultaneously battling a large residential fire Monday night, contributing to an already chaotic scene in the area.
Fraizer is identified in public records as a principal engineer at Oracle Corporation and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. Authorities have not indicated whether his professional or military background had any connection to the incident.
Police have not disclosed a possible motive. The investigation remains ongoing, and anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact local law enforcement.
